Drew DuBoff Podcast

You have probably heard of the 4 Hour Work Week before.

Some people claim this is just a pipedream. In fact, not only is it possible but by offering your services as a freelancer with skills you already have, you may be much closer than you realise.

This podcast will show you how a 21-year-old has set up an online business that only requires 10 hours of work a week… to earn $50k+ a year.

In this podcast with Drew DuBoff we chat about:

  • What exact rate you should charge clients when you are starting.
  • How and where you can find people that are desperate for your help.
  • The dream package for a freelancer, and how you can get this.
  • Why Drew wishes he listened more carefully to his college teacher.

If you’re like me, you probably can’t wait to hear about this!

Drew DuBoff Background

Drew is still a spring chicken.

The difference between him and most 21-year-olds you will meet is this…

He will never need to get a “real job” because he has already found a way to make serious money online.

By checking emails and managing social media groups he has created an income of over $50k a year… and he only works 10 hours a week!

So how has he found these clients that are willing to pay him for this?

No Cold Outreach

This is a great point that Drew made…

Get to know the people before reaching out to them.

Drew has done a few things to put his name on the map:

  • Being active on Facebook blogging groups
  • Buying courses that help his online blogging knowledge
  • Contacting the owners of the courses with questions and thanking them
  • Willing to help them out with a problem they have… for free initially!

Do you notice that they are all easy to do?

But they are also easy not to do.

The difference is Drew did them!

Freelance Retainer Package is Key

This is the golden key to freelancing.

It is possible to charge a flat fee per month rather than an hourly rate. Some of the benefits of this are:

  • No need to track hours to bill clients
  • Get paid on the same day every month
  • Helps with cash flow & financial statements
  • Charged by results rather than the time you put in (you are not always trading your time for money)
  • You are in control

This means that you know exactly what your income is going to be each month and makes it very easy for you to know exactly what is expected of you.

Now, I can almost hear your mind saying…

How Long Will it Take to do a Task?

Let’s just use an example:

Facebook group management.

The main job is to approve or deny requests and also ensure you help engagement in the group i.e. join in discussions.

The best way to know how long it will take is to watch how much is going on each day in that group.

For example, how many new subscribers join each day/ week and how many comments appear every day.

You can use this as a rough estimate to judge how much time will be needed accordingly.

But it won’t be until you try it out that you will be able to know exactly how much time you are putting in.

Example Rates to Charge

Drew breaks down a real example.

If you’re like me, then this will be super helpful and really open your eyes.

Drew DuBoff Podcast

His example is to charge $1,000 per month to manage someone’s FB group and email.

  • Facebook groups- check once per day to approve people (~10 mins a day= 1 hour per week = 4 hours per month)
  • Email- 30 mins a day = 4 hours per week = no more than 20 hours per month

Therefore, to manage someone’s email and Facebook group you can get paid $1,000 per month for less than 25 hours a month AKA 6 hours a week.

That works out around $40 per hour!

Have you noticed the key is that you don’t offer your services for $40 an hour though?!

What Could You be a VA for?

Just think about what you enjoy doing the most or something that you are naturally good at.

For example:

  • Do you have an inbox with 0 emails unopened?
  • Do you spend a lot of time on Facebook?
  • Are you good at writing?
  • Or do spelling errors stand out to you like a white man in China?
  • Do you understand Clickfunnels or CRM?
  • Do you have a great funnel in your business in a certain niche?
  • Maybe you can write amazing quizzes.

As you can see the options are endless.

The key is to pick something and give it go.

If you become really good at something then marketing yourself will become much easier. In fact, you’ll end up at a point where you have to turn work away.

Figuring Out Your Starting Rate… With ACTUAL Numbers!

I really rated Drews answer to this.

No fluff.

Just real useable numbers.

Start at a $25 hourly rate.

Drew said he got lucky because his first client gave him a number and he based all of the future clients off this number.

Without a doubt, the first one will be the hardest as you will need to figure out how long things do actually take you.

But use the example above to guestimate how many hours a job will take. Then you offer a rate of $25 an hour.

If this can be a monthly retainer then even better!

Make sure you reassess after your first month to see how many hours it actually takes.

Not sure how to do this?

No worries, Drew has you covered…

Best Tools

If you’re like me you always love these tips.

Anything that saves time = good (in my eyes)

  • Track time with
  • Trello, Slack or Asana- project management software to keep conversations in one place- clear deadlines and who is responsible for what.
  • Autoresponder- send automated emails so the readers don’t even know (Drew uses ConvertKit… which I also highly recommend)
  • Calendly- scheduling app links to Zoom (to make calls) & links to payment
  • Gutenburg on WordPress- Free atomic blocks plug in to build landing pages- you can redirect to a questionnaire to automate the process
Track Time- Sand Timer

Automating allows you to go away for a weekend or go on vacation.

Let me ask you this… would you be willing to do VA work if you can just work an hour a day anywhere in the world? Find out more tips to Save Hours of Time & Money with these Resources

Drews Tips to Start

Create a “hire me” page on your website (if you have one).

Drop this link on your Facebook profile (and other social media platforms you use).

Find your ideal clients by finding out where they hang out i.e. use Facebook, Twitter, Reddit etc.

Drew’s opinion- avoid boards such as Fiverr, Freelancer or Upwork (there are scammers on there and it’ll take a lot of work to find the right clients). Typically freelancers undercut themselves. *He does know some people that do have success on these platforms though!

Top 3 Tips if Drew DuBoff Could go Back in Time

If Drew could go back to his class with his social media marketing teacher, he would give himself these 3 pieces of advice.

  1. Get started… do it sooner!
  2. Ask for help sooner (you don’t know it all)
  3. Believe in yourself.

Drew was very honest here and admits how hard an online business can be.

But he also shares some of the best parts about starting an online business (*cough earning $25,000 in the last 6 months* cough cough)

Make Money Blogging Podcast Series Summary [October]

The best time to start a blog was 15 years ago… the second-best time is right now.

If you’ve followed Make Time Online for any length of time, you’ve probably heard me shout the benefits of starting a blog before…

  • It’s possible to create passive income (do work once and get paid over and over again… there are loads of ways to monetise a blog)
  • You can promote any business you currently have (see my chat with Riaz for more on this)
  • It’s possible to create a business around something you enjoy doing
  • Start making money in a way that suits the life you want to live, rather than the other way around
  • There’s no limit to the income you can achieve (check out my chat with Jeff and Ben from Dollarsprout… they make $240k a month!)
  • It’s fun!

This podcast sums up the “make money blogging” podcast series. Particularly, my chats with Alex from Create and Go (Part 1, Part 2) and Paul “Scrivs” Scrivens from Dare to Conquer (Part 1, Part 2).

  4. Get traffic to your blog. Use one tool to help and do it better than others

Dare to Conquer Podcast

You’re probably reading this page because you’d like to know how to create a 6 figure online business.

Chances are you think it will be super hard.

But what if there was an 18-month blueprint already laid out for you?

Paul (Scrivs) Scrivens explains the one question you need to ask yourself to see if your idea can become a 6-7 figure business.

On the show we chat about:

  • The 2 types of online entrepreneurs
  • What the one thing is that super successful online businesses do
  • Why Scrivs is very grateful for his wife (…no he didn’t cry!)
  • What Scrivs would say to himself if he could go back in time

This is part 2. You can check out “the worst mistake new bloggers make” for part 1.

There are 2 Types of Online Entrepreneurs

Scrivs splits his audience into 2 different people.

  1. Bloggers
  2. 6-7 figure business owners

Let’s dig into what the difference is…

Bloggers- Just Want a Side Income

There are some people that really just want to make an extra $1,000 or so every month.

Sometimes these people just want to write and would be extremely happy if it made a bit of income on the side.

A key focus here is to write content that is suited to Pinterest. You can learn more about why this is the case in “how to use Pinterest for beginners“.

They may want it to become a full-time business in the future, but usually, they have a different mindset to the 6-7 figure business owners…

6-7 Figure Business’s AKA 1,000 True Fans

There is really only one simple question to ask yourself…

What transformation are you going to deliver?

Can you create a product that gets people from point A to point B?

You probably have noticed that when you look at everything you need to do for an online business in one go… it seems pretty overwhelming!

This is why Scrivs recommends that you don’t focus on everything at once… just do one thing at a time.

Slow and steady amigo.

Here’s a way to help you keep it simple:

  • It only takes one blog post that connects with someone for them to join your email list
  • It only takes one email sequence that provides value for them to trust you
  • When someone trusts you they are much more likely to buy something from you

Can you see the importance of building trust and authority?

Your reader is now more likely to want to see what your course can provide.

This is the secret to getting 1,000 true fans.

And 1,000 true fans that pay you $100 a year = $100,000 (a 6 figure business).

Simple right?

Now, if you’re like me you’d be interested to know more about…

Scrivs Working Habits

So how does the guy that has 20+ courses and so many niche websites keep on top of everything?

His habits and the life he has created certainly helps:

  • He batches content (he’ll often write a lot in one day then do no writing the day after)
  • This month Scrivs has written: 80,000 words in 20 posts, 17 emails and 3 video scripts.
  • He has a list of keywords ready to write about
  • Family members help out with work they enjoy doing
  • Write like you talk- don’t edit yourself when you write (try to entertain as you educate)

One other thing…

Scrivs has found that a subscription model and evergreen courses make things easier for cash flow. (It doesn’t mean it’s easy to do though!)

Top 3 Tips if Scrivs Could go Back in Time

This is what Scrivs would say if he could go back in time to when he had just gone back to a day job.

  1. Ask more questions from people that have expertise in areas you don’t
  2. Set time aside to actually do the work (i.e. set a schedule and wake up early)
  3. Communicate more with your wife early on

Can you imagine the power of being able to tell your past self these pearls of wisdom?

The Worst Mistake New Bloggers Make to Not Make Money- Paul Scrivens [Part 1]

Paul Scrivens from Dare to Conquer

You probably know the feeling of trying to make money from a blog.

Many people think it’s super hard and you’ll have to come up with a great idea to earn a cent. In fact, it doesn’t have to be this way.

This podcast with Paul Scrivens from Dare to Conquer will show you the worst mistake that new bloggers make…

And what you can do to fix it.

    Scrivs and I chat about:

    • How he started working in the “online world”
    • Why one of his websites went from 0 to over 1 million page views every month (in under 2 years)
    • The 2 mindset hurdles every entrepreneur has to overcome
    • What you can do if you’re not an “expert”

This is another 2 part podcast, with more on how to start a 6-7 figure online business next week.

    Paul Scrivens Background

Scrivs first job was a headhunter (aka helping other people find jobs… “recruitment consultant” if you’re from the UK).

But there was a big issue with this…

He hated working on the phone.

So doing what any normal person would do in this situation he lied to his boss…

“Hey, I can build websites for you”

He had no idea how to… so he had to figure out how to do that in a day!

This was Scrivs path into blogging.

And the rest is history as they say…

    Sort of!

As you listen in to the podcast you’ll hear how Paul Scrivens:

    • Was vagabonding for a while
    • Had to get a “real job” when he met his now-wife
    • He bounced between a few random jobs but…
    • He always hated working for someone else
    • How he created a course on web design to make $20k in a weekend

But he still had no idea why certain things worked and others didn’t.

    Eventually, this led to…

Thrive/Strive- From 1,800 pageviews in 3 Months to 1 Million Pageviews in One Month

Scrivs started the health and fitness website with his brother and wife.

After 20 months, Thrive/Strive was receiving 1 million pageviews each month.

But it wasn’t always that way…

The Worst Mistake From a New Blogger

There is one big mistake many online entrepreneurs make.

It is the one reason why many people fail or waste so much time:

You try to create something brand new.

Many people put off starting or fail because of this one mistake.

Everything that works (aka makes money online) has already been done.

You can copy the idea or model that someone else has done.

Obviously don’t completely copy it, you put your own spin on it.

But if you can show people how to lose weight in one month, people will pay you for the information.

    Weight Loss

    Is it new?

    Does it work?

    Mindset & Initial Steps

    Scrivs explains this…

You have to understand it is a process.

You will not start making crazy money after a day… or a week… or a month.

The success stories you hear don’t always explain the struggle or failures these people had on the way.

You’re going to have to do these 2 things before you get anywhere:

    • Overcome your own self-doubt
    • Then overcome the self-doubt of your friends and family

The best way to do that is to start taking action.

How to Get Free Traffic to Your Website

The platform that opened Scrivs’ eyes to how to get free traffic quickly was of course…

It has been proven by so many successful bloggers that it’s hard to ignore the power of Pinterest to get free traffic quickly.

    Related content:

Not an Expert in a Niche?

    You don’t have to be.

All you need to be is one step ahead of the people reading your website.

    A research assistant.

That is still super useful for people.

You find out the answer so that they don’t have to.

Alex Nerney Create and Go podcast

You probably agree that creating a blog is really creating an online business.

Some people don’t look at it this way as it seems too daunting.

Alex Nerney from Create and Go is on the podcast today to chat about:

      • The worst mistakes bloggers make
      • How Alex chipped his tooth by travelling at over 75 kph on a volcano
      • How he always knows exactly what the right thing to do for his business is
      • The pieces of advice he would give himself if he could go back in time

This is part 2 of the chat. If you’d like to hear how he created a 6 figure blog within one year then check out part 1 here.

#1 Fall for The Shiny Object Syndrome!

If you are like me, then you certainly know how this shiny object syndrome may feel!

There is so much on the Internet that it’s impossible to avoid the next best thing since sliced bread.

      But there is a solution!

Alex read a book explaining how Warren Buffet and Bill Gates were in an interview.

They were asked a simple question…

“What is the number one reason that you had success?”

After 3 they both had to answer.

      They hadn’t discussed it.

And do you know what they said?

It’s easy to dip in a take a bit of information from a lot of people.

      But few people focus.

Few people become a “disciple” to one person (or a team). If you can do this you increase your chances of success tremendously!

#2 Not Becoming an Expert in One Thing

It’s very easy to want to talk about everything that you are interested in.

The issue with this online is that you confuse… everyone!

Including Google and all the fancy algorithms.

The way blogging is moving is for people to become an expert in one singular thing.

A simple statement you can answer to work this out is…

      I help “BLANK” to “BLANK”.

i.e. I help women to lose weight by using the Keto diet.

      #3 The Wrong Mindset

“Here’s what to do” is important.

      But so is the mindset.

In fact, it’s probably more important.

You can get the “what to do” from so many different people (remember it’s better to just pick one though). Implementing it day in day out is much harder.

Make sure you feed positive thoughts into your mind each day.

      Related content:

Top 3 Tips For Himself If Alex Could Go Back in Time

The answer to this question always amazes me.

You can get some real pieces of wisdom and Alex did not fail to deliver.

      1. Narrow in on your target audience (solve one problem in other people’s lives)
      2. Trust yourself
      3. You’re going to make it

Imagine your future successful self speaking to you right now.

How reassuring would it be if they could tell you these 3 things?

      Best Experiences Since Blogging

Alex and Lauren have had some great experiences since they started.

This is often the big “why” for many people starting in the online world.

Here are some of Alex’s favourites:

      1. Waking up when he wants and drinking his coffee in peace
      2. Buying organic food!
      3. Travelling at 75 kph volcano-boarding in Nicaragua
      4. Machu Pichu in Peru
      5. Authentic experiences in unique cultures (Portugal, Cusco in Peru etc.)

Do you see how living life on his own terms is far more important than living a fancy flashy life?

      Create and Go’s Mission

To provide all the steps to help people make money online.

Alex wants to help people live their life on their own terms. He’s not so fussed about making people millionaires.

If you have a blog that is already generating traffic and you’re making some money from it then you may be interested in checking out Create and Go’s “Six-Figure Blogger” course.

This course is perfect if you’re looking to create your first product and automating the sales process.

Alex Nerney From Create and Go- 6 Figure Bloggers Summary

Here are my 5 takeaways from this chat with Alex:

      1. No one cares about your fancy ideas (find what people are looking for already)
      2. Solve one problem… really well
      3. Focus. Use one training program from one “guru” until you achieve what you want
      4. Pinterest is just a tool to get traffic. If it disappears there’s always another one
      5. Track data (what posts get the most traffic, what opt-ins get the highest conversions, what emails get read the most?)

Alex’s Journey From Earning $0 After Quitting a Job to Making Over $100k/ Month

Alex was a personal trainer waking up at 5 am every day to train his clients.

He bounced around for a long time trying out different things.

But he knew there was another way to live life.

It wasn’t until going to a Fastlane Meetup that he actually realised this “Internet lifestyle” was a real thing.

After taking the plunge in December 2015 and “going all in” Alex and Lauren starting making their first bit of income from their health and fitness website Avocadu.

      Related content:

      What Did Avocadu Do?

      Simply put…

They started making money from affiliate sales, then quickly made their own products to increase their profit.

It wasn’t down to luck though.

They put out loads of great content, but more importantly…

      They tracked data… a lot!

So what data did they actually measure?

      Data collection

      Here’s the rundown:

      1. What are the highest-traffic articles
      2. The best converting opt-in pages on these sites (using Thrive Leads)
      3. What emails their readers liked the most (using ConverKit)

Once they figured this out, they produced more of these.

As you can see it’s pretty simple when it’s laid out like this.

      Just look at the data.

      Respond to it.

You don’t need to come up with some new invention or something groundbreaking. In fact, it’s recommended that you don’t.

      Sounds simple, doesn’t it?

But how do you get traffic in the first place to track data?

Pinterest (or any Tool) = Traffic

You may hear that Pinterest is the best way to get traffic.

At the end of 2019, this is still true for many niches.

Alex explains that Pinterest is full of “private people” that like reading. Hence, it’s great for blog traffic!

The thing is Pinterest is not the ONLY way to get traffic. There will always be the next “Pinterest” if it were to disappear.

So how dis they get traffic?

Alex and Lauren really analysed one Pinterest’s content.

      They found:

      • People linking to bad articles
      • Pins that were not beautiful
      • Bad titles that didn’t get clicked

By fixing these 3 mistakes, Avocadu was able to stand out.

First of all, Pinterest HAS CHANGED!!

It’s a different thing to what it was in 2015.

Here are some of the common mistakes that people still make:

      • Deleting pins
      • Try to game the system

Pinterest’s algorithm has changed to stop a lot of old tactics being effective.

It takes good content and consistency to get traffic from Pinterest.

      Make Time Online Podcast

It is possible to live life on your own terms

Time is more important than money. You can always get more money but you can never get more time.

      Jim Rohn

There are really 2 main ways that I have seen people live life on their own terms.

Usually, this is by creating passive income streams.

Apart from investing in the stock market (or index funds ideally), these are through:

      • Property investment
      • Online business

So, the focus for the next few months will be all about online businesses.

      Laptop make money online

Real online entrepreneurs will come on the show to share their experience and tips for starting an online business.

The Make Time Online Podcast Until 2020

There will be 3 main topics on the Make Time Online podcast leading up until the end of 2019

October- Start a Blog to Make Money

There will be 2 guests in October over 4 episodes.

They have made money blogging with numerous websites each and will share their journey, experience and tips with you.

November- Different Make Money Online Ideas

During November there will be some guests that make money online in slightly different ways such as:

      • Freelance writing
      • Virtual assistant jobs i.e. email/ social media management
      • Creating blogs in different niches
      • Different strategies i.e. SEO, viral content, contributor sites etc.

These are all ways that can supplement your income and potentially open your eyes to new ways to make money online (it certainly opened my eyes!)

December- Getting Traffic Quickly With Pinterest

Pinterest is still the fastest way to get a lot of traffic to your blog.

      This month we’ll cover:

      • How to use Pinterest to get blog traffic
      • Pinterest SEO
      • What the changes will mean in 2020 and beyond
      • Are group boards still worth using?
      • The best way to automate your pins
      • How Pinterest works
      • The best niches on Pinterest

      New Blog Case Study!

Using some of these strategies discovered from these chats I am starting a brand new blog.

The sole focus is to get traffic from Pinterest to monetise the blog with ads initially.

If you’d like to know exactly how much time and effort it really takes to make money blogging, this study will show you:

      • How many posts are written each month
      • How many pins are created each month
      • The number of sessions to the website
      • The number of pageviews each month to the website
      • How many Pinterest followers the account has each month (not the best metric, but an easy one to track and it can be useful to know)
      • The income the blog makes each month

This is not going to be full-time work, it will be around 10 hours a week with some help from my lovely wife (let’s call it 15-20 hours a week max!)

If you’d like to follow the journey you can get the results sent to you with the opt-in at the bottom of this page.

Note- The case study results will not be shared on this website

      Ryan Biddulph Blogging From Paradise

You may agree that living a life of island hopping and travelling the world sounds pretty idyllic.

Most people think this lifestyle is something that only billionaires can achieve. However, by using smart blogging methods you are about to find out that anyone can choose this lifestyle if they wish.

In this podcast with Ryan Biddulph from Blogging From Paradise we chat about:

      • How he went from a struggling blogger to a super successful blogger
      • The secret to Ryan’s success
      • How he wrote a book a day for 3 months whilst living in Bali
      • The worst thing that is holding people back from living their dream life

      Ryan Biddulph’s Background

      2 mins

In the next few minutes, you are going to learn that Ryan was a security guard 10 years ago. He was just your average American who:

      • Had his last vacation in 1989 to South Carolina
      • Didn’t own a passport before 2011 and had never been on a plane

He was aware that he wasn’t living life the way that he wanted to. But it wasn’t until his wife, Kelli, introduced him to making money online that he saw how it could be any different.

Once he saw it could be possible Ryan packed up and moved to Bali (his first ever flight in 2011!!)

Ryan talks about his initial struggles:

      • He started with a “Make Money Online blog”, but didn’t have the passion
      • He made money initially with freelance stuff and writing articles

But he didn’t really find success until…

      Blogging From Paradise Was Born

      6 mins

Imagine what it would be like if you could live in Savu Savu, Fiji for free.

      Fiji Savu Savu
Ryan’s view when he started Blogging From Paradise

Well, this is exactly what Ryan and Kelli did.

They got their first house sitting experience after just 3 skype interviews… no experience!

It was here on the beautiful island of Fiji in 2014 that Ryan hatched Blogging From Paradise.

This is when he moved from the freelance model (trading time for money) to a passive income model.

The further on you listen to this podcast the more you will realise that blogging can create multiple streams of income and there’s no limit to it.

      Ryan’s Secret

      8:30 mins

So you want to know Ryan’s secret?

OK, lean in a bit closer…

      It’s energy.

      Nothing more to it!

Ryan started following successful, happy people i.e. Tim Ferris, Richard Branson and Tony Robbins.

The common factor was their energy and passion.

Is your attention and energy coming from a place of love and positivity or fear and scarcity?

In the “make money online” niche, Ryan was in it more for the money.

He realised a lot of bloggers were working full time and were actually quite depressed chasing money. But when he focused on improving his energy and positivity, everything else started to fall into place.

Creating content sets everything up and builds trust.

However, connecting and creating the right energy is the most important thing.

      Related content:

      Energy Management Tips

      12 mins

Ryan’s top tip is to research different energy management tips and try things out, such as:

      • Walking
      • Deep yin yoga
      • Prayer
      • Meditation
      • Write a grateful list every day
      • *EFT Tapping
      • *Cryotherapy i.e. cold showers

      * Do check in with your doctor before trying anything you are unsure about!!

Meditating won’t make you peaceful, but it will make you aware of your energy and you can act on that! Your thoughts and feelings often stop you from building relationships and creating or connecting in the way you want.

Move away from fear and scarcity to a mindset of abundance and positivityClick To Tweet

Writing 126 Books- Writing 1 Book a Day for 3 Months!

      15 mins

“This is what happens when you raise your energy”

Ryan explains that when you let your limiting beliefs go you can access pure “flow”.

      Ryan Biddulph Blogging From Paradise

He wrote short books between 4-6,000 words each day on:

      • Practical blogging tips
      • Energy
      • Work
      • Inspiration
      • Plus a lot more!

Some of the books went “off niche” but people still buy them when you utilise online tools like Amazon.

      Energy dictates action and inaction.

      The Hard Work Consciousness Myth

      20 mins

You probably know that most people will focus on scarcity rather than all their wins. Do any of these thoughts sound familiar?

      • If I just had more money then I could…
      • When I get this job then I will…
      • I wish I had the time to travel…

Ryan started to realise that he was often in the perfect place and perfect time.

Do you being to notice that it’s not about putting in more effort and time, but getting your mindset and energy right first?

Devote energy and attention to things you are grateful for i.e. start to see riches in your mind from the money you have made 10 years ago, and money will flow to you.

      Being Grateful

      25 mins

Wouldn’t life be amazing if you could only focus on the positives?

You may find people say some nasty things online. But you can starve these people of attention and keep going back to where you are loved.

      Ryan Biddulph Blogging From Paradise

Give attention and energy to people that appreciate you and it creates more and more positivity and gets rid of the negativity.

And before long you will achieve the 2 F’s:

      1. Freedom
      2. and finances

      Achieving Freedom

      28 mins

Make choices on a foundational and base level.

The main decision Ryan and Kelli made was:

To circle the globe and go wherever they want whenever they want to.

To do this they have released possessions and own only things that they carry with them.

Ryan didn’t want to trade time for money so he created passive income streams.

      But happiness comes in first!

Focus on fun and freedom then the money comes.

Let me ask you this, what would make a bigger impact… dropping a pebble or the world trade centre falling?

      Still lake

Now let me ask you this, which one do you think you would notice more:

      1. Dropping a pebble into a still pond
      2. Throwing the world trade centre into a hurricane and chaos

Find stillness and each small meaningful action will have a much bigger impact.

      Passive Income Streams from Blogging

      33 mins

During this section Ryan mentions different methods that he has personally used to create passive income:

      • Online courses
      • Self publish ebooks
      • Convert some to audio books (using to put them onto audible, iTunes and Amazon)
      • Convert to paperback
      • Sponsored posts and advertising streams
      • Affiliate marketing i.e. Amazon Associates
      • Paid Tweets for organisations

You will, however, make more money more quickly through active streams such as:

      • Coaching
      • Consulting
      • Freelancing

Money is an inside game and feeling like you can prosper.

It doesn’t have to take such a long time if you can think. In fact, you can learn more about how it’s possible to start making money in a short space of time with “Affiliate Marketing Online: The Secrets Revealed“.

      Automating Tools

      33 mins

Ryans best tip to automate is to connect with tribes i.e. Triberr

If you share other people’s content, they will share yours.

Leverage your relationships to automate your marketing no matter what you are doing.

The easiest way to befriend another blogger is to promote them, share their content, comment detailed and useful responses on their posts.

      Be as generous as possible!!

Normal Day for Ryan Right Now

      45 min

This changes a LOT depending on where Ryan is.

Living in Bali or Fiji is very different from living in USA.

Some typical things Ryan will do each day for his blogging:

      • Create a blog post
      • Guest post on
      • Comment on top blogs in his niche
      • Comment on Quora
      • Facebook video (live or recorded)
      • Help people and promote other people

Do you begin to notice that everything Ryan does revolve around the 2 C’s (Create and Connect)

Other things Ryan may do to pull back:

      • Walk for an hour or so
      • Read
      • 90 mins of deep yin yoga
      • Having fun
      • Travel
      • Meditate
      • Eating in amazing places over the world

      1. Be present when travelling
      2. Spend more time doing number 1, less time working online

7 Awesome Benefits of Starting a Podcast Today

MTO18- podcast show notes about the benefits of starting a podcast.

You probably know that the amount of people listening to podcasts is increasing rapidly. Check out the stats here!

However, it can seem like a daunting task to set up your own podcast and it’s still not really clear why people create a podcast in the first place.

As you listen to this episode you will find out what the benefits of starting a podcast are and how you can get started today.

What are 7 Big Benefits of Starting a Podcast?

There are far more benefits than the ones discussed in this podcast.

However, these are 7 of the benefits that you may not have even thought about.

      #1 Save Time

This is a big one for Make Time Online!

Rather than repeating yourself over and over again to people about a certain topic you can simply refer them to a podcast.

For example, if you get asked a question about why you should invest in index funds, and you have already created a podcast on it, then guess what?

That’s right you don’t have to send an epic essay of an answer back to this person you just link your podcast episode. They are happy because they have received high-quality information, and you didn’t have to spend ages typing up the answer or explaining it again.

If you’d like to see some of the best time saving resources for bloggers and podcasters then check out “Save Hours of Time & Money with these Resources“.

      #2 Build a Network

      Of course, you’ve heard that…

Well starting a podcast is an incredible way to connect with people that you otherwise wouldn’t even be able to pay to have a chat with.

This is possibly the greatest benefit of starting a podcast!

      #3 Build a Personal Brand

It’s hard to put a value on what a personal brand is worth.

But once people know that you provide great value and can help them (this may be in giving them a laugh, or teaching them something etc.) then they will be much more likely to trust you when you come to suggesting a great product for them to use.

#4 Learn More About a Topic

If you are interested in learning something then why not start a podcast and interview “experts” on the topic.

You can get free coaching or advice from real people that have been there and done that.

Many people claim you need money to get involved in property. Check out my chat with Tej from Tej Talks as he proves that you can start learning and improving your skills from the comfort of your own home without spending expensive course prices!

      Related content:

      #5 Stop the Small Talk

If you’re like me, then you probably hate those social situations when you meet a load of new people.

Getting asked “so what do you do?” is possibly the most repetitive question! Plus, it somehow defines who you are and puts labels on people straight away.

However, if someone has heard of your podcast and what you do, you can skip out the random conversations about the weather and jump straight into the things you likely both want to talk about!

#6 Create Opportunities You Hadn’t Thought of

You may have planned out exactly what you want to do with your life. If you have that’s awesome and I salute you!

But, the majority of people won’t have a life blueprint that they follow every day.

Sometimes the best opportunities for you are things you didn’t even know existed!

Putting yourself out there on a podcast can create opportunities such as guest speaking or a brand contacting you to offer a freebie or pay you for advertising in something you hadn’t ever considered.

      Related content:

      #7 People Connect With YOU

Rather than always having to find other people to network with or explaining what you do 100 times a day, you will find that people will start connecting with you.

Rather than it being a surface level, you can find that people will “know you” on a much more personal level.

Top Tip For Listening to Podcasts

      Batch one topic!

If you are like me you may often jump from comedy with Joe Rogan, to property tax advice to catching up with the latest sporting events.

However, this is a great way to lose time and get super confused! It’s fine if you just want a bit of entertainment on a long drive somewhere. But if you want to learn something it’s so much more effective to batch one topic i.e. email marketing.

Find 3-5 different podcasts that will talk about the topic you are interested in. Schedule these episodes to play next and then you can listen to a certain topic back to back!
