What is Trivita?
Trivita is a health and wellness Multi-Level-Marketing company founded by Michael Ellison in 1999.
Ellison is a successful entrepreneur and businessman who wanted to help the world by promoting healthy living with the help of this company.
His dreams turned into reality when he successfully founded Trivita in Scottsdale, Arizona. The company claims their products to be science-based nutritional supplements.
Aside from that, the company also has their own medical professionals who are heading the administrative branch. Examples of these are their chief medical officer and scientific and medical advisors.
Here is a 5-minute video about the company...
Now that you know what the MLM is all about, let's move and know...
Is Trivita a pyramid scheme?
Nope, Trivita isn’t a pyramid scheme because its members are earning by selling their nutritional supplements without having to recruit.
But even if this is the case, it’s still worth questioning… Is Trivita a pyramid scheme in disguise?
What is a pyramid scheme?
A company promising payment to the members whenever they recruit someone into the company.
This becomes the top priority and focus of the members instead of selling actual products and services.
A lot of countries have also labeled these as illegal as it is impossible for all of the members to earn money which is only paying to recruit people.
See this diagram from Wikipedia below to know why...
The members who are making the most money from this scheme do nothing but recruit people to join this alleged business opportunity, even if it isn’t really one.
And if you were to closely examine the diagram above, you’ll see that it’s impossible for all of the members to make money from this kind of system as you are just going to drain the number of potential people later on.
You can have a better understanding of these “pyramid schemes in disguise” from this 5-minute video...
But why is it that...
Success is rare with Trivita
It is hard to achieve any kind of success when you’re with Trivita. Did you know that around 72.5% and 99.9% of MLM members are losing money?
This is happening because MLM companies have a sales quota which means that members can only be active and receive their commissions if they are able to sell or reach the required number of sales every month.
If they can’t, then they’ve got no choice but to just buy the products themselves.
This is why the majority of MLM members are losing hundreds if not thousands of dollars from their own savings before getting their first recruit.
How does Trivita Work?
Trivita functions as a company that is selling health and wellness products.
They also have their own affiliate program where members can become their agents and sell their products to receive commissions.
It might seem like a win-win situation. But wait till you know that Trivita is saving huge money because their members are the one who promote, market, and advertise their products.
Before we confirm that this is really what’s happening, let’s know more about...
Trivita products
If you’d want to become one of their members despite all the risks and uncertainties involved, it’s best that you try out their products so you know what you’re getting yourself into.
But if not, then simply reading through will also do well.
I researched and gone through their site and decided to show you their best-selling products:
- Nopalea ($34.99) - A nutritional drink that is made from prickly pear cactus. It contains lots of antioxidants that detoxify the body and promote healthy inflammation.
- Vital C ($19.99) - This provides the body with a stronger immune system and higher energy amount thanks to its rich dosage of Vitamin C. This comes in the form of tablets and powder.
- Slow Dissolve Super B-12 ($24.99) - A vitamin complex that contains Vitamin B12 that helps boost energy and makes the body generally healthier. It also helps improve digestion, blood circulation, and nerve function.
But be aware that there are a lot of other MLM companies that sell the same stuff, but just in different names and packaging.
The most notable ones are:
- Max International
- Arbonne
- Beachbody
- Univera
- Reliv International
- Genesis Pure
- American Dream Nutrition
- Yoli
- Vivo
All these companies say that they are the best and that they are special due to their exclusive formula. When the fact is… they all just sell the same thing!
Knowing that this is the case, then what makes Trivita special?
Trivita flagship product
MyoHealth ($89.98) - Provides the body with the essential amino acids needed to boost the immune system, increase energy levels, and improve overall body function. This comes in the form of gluten-free capsules.
You can check out this 2-minute video about their product:
So, let's move to the important part and know if...
Can you make money with Trivita?
Yes, but it is hard.
There are some who make money, but they do nothing but just recruit anyone they can.
They even treat this as their full-time job, which is a far cry form the supposedly part-time business you wanted that can sustain your needs and wants.
What’s worse is that there’s no income disclosure that shows if their members are actually earning.
How to make money with Trivita
There are 2 ways you can make some bucks from this MLM.
And that is by…
- Selling their products
- Recruiting more members
But take note that you can only make money by earning bonuses from the sales of your downlines and not by simply recruiting…
Before I show their compensation plan to you, let’s know more about...
How much does it cost to join Trivita?
You need to pay $20 to become an official Trivita member.
I know, it’s way too cheap for you to even worry about it. But that isn’t the only expense you’re going to get...
Trivita monthly cost
You also need to maintain 50 PV monthly which also means selling $50 worth of products every month.
So, for the first year, you’re going to spend:
- $20
- $50 x 12
Minimum costs for year 1 = $620
And I still haven’t included the other costs you are going to incur such as the training, travel, food, gas, and other miscellaneous expenses...
Trivita compensation plan
MLM companies always have confusing and complicated compensation plans.
Well, nothing’s different with Trivita… But don’t worry as I am going to simplify it for you so that you can easily understand it…
Trivita is offering 3 main ways for members to make money:
- Retail Sales - Earn 40% commission from the first purchase of your customer. This is paid weekly.
- Residual Commission - Earn 20% commission from every product that you sell. This is paid monthly.
- Recruitment Bonus - Earn a bonus depending on your rank whenever you recruit a new member into the company.
Also don’t worry if you are still confused because that is normal.
MLMs always have fancy names, weird acronyms, and complicated terms so that people will think that they are legit and that there are a lot of ways to earn money from the company.
When the reality is… there are just 2 things to do:
- Sell products
- Recruit people
You might also want to check out this 3-minute video about their compensation plan...
Or you can find the full compensation plan here.
Is Trivita a scam?
Trivita is not a scam. The company is legal as they sell legitimate products. They also pay members exactly as what is stated in the contract.
But the thing is… many members are disappointed to learn that they lose money instead of making money due to the sales quota. Hence, they label the company as a scam.
The remainder of this MLM review will help you see if this is really the case so that you can come up with the right and informed decision if it’s for you or not...
Just to be fully transparent with you, I am not a distributor myself and I do not endorse it in any way.
I have researched the website, testimonials and information on the Internet to get to the bottom of what this program genuinely does. This is because I have been burnt from programs just like this in the past and I want to prevent others from making the same mistakes. What I like about Trivita
Key Terms:
- Pyramid Scheme – recruits members via a promise for payment from recruiting others into the company rather than providing a product
- Affiliate Marketing- Connecting a customer to a product they are looking for and receiving a commission for doing so
- Red Flag - A warning sign
#1 Nice reputation
One of the best things that I like about Trivita is that they have been around for more than 21 years as they were founded back in 1999.
This is very rare because most MLMs only operate for around 3 to 5 years...
#2 Positive product reviews
I checked out what users and customers have to say about their products and this is what I saw…
As you can see, there are a lot of satisfied customers, which shows that their products actually do work.
This is a good thing especially if you want something that will be sellable to the mass market.
What I don't like about Trivita
#1 Expensive products
One of the biggest downturns for me about Trivita is that they sell expensive products.
This isn’t an excuse even if they are effective. I mean, just look at all their competitors in the market…
#2 Lacks information
Trivita doesn’t have any income disclosure. I’m not sure why there isn’t any, but there’s a huge chance that it might be because their members aren’t earning that well and they don’t want the world to know about it.
#3 Hidden monthly expenses
You need to sell 50 PV monthly to stay active. This means you must sell $50 worth of products every month just for you to earn bonuses.
If you can’t achieve that, then there is no choice for you but to buy the products yourself.
Smart eh? Well, that’s why the biggest customer base of MLM companies are their clients because they just keep buying their stuff and hoping that they can break even soon...
#4 Is Trivita a pyramid scheme in disguise?
No doubt it is, because you need to spend $50 monthly just to stay active.
Well, there’s a way to avoid that and that is by recruiting people.
The more people you recruit, the more money you earn. And you still do this even though you already know that your recruited members are just going to lose money...
#4 Is Trivita a pyramid scheme in disguise?
Checked out Google Trends and this is what I have seen...
As you can see, there is not much people who are searching for Trivita, which also shows that not many people are interested with whatever they are offering...
My opinion - Trivita
Trivita is established and has been around since 1999. That alone is a feat…
However, they’re selling overpriced products and their business opportunity just isn’t any good.
So, here’s what I think about their business opportunity here...
The only way you can make money is by recruiting as many people as you can. And you still do that knowing that your recruited members are going to lose money!
There are a lot of other ways you can make good money from a legit business...
How I make passive income online
MLMs are not scams or illegal. However, I'm not a fan of them because of the restrictions to the expensive products you have to promote.
Once I learnt about affiliate marketing, I realised it's a far superior business model because:
- You can promote anything you want and truly own the business
- You never need to sell to friends and family
- It's completely free to start
In 2018 I had no idea what affiliate marketing was.
But I went from a full time PE teacher to making a passive income online within one year...
