What is Vemma?

Vemma is an Multi-Level-Marketing company that was founded by Benson Boreyko in 2004.

Vemma is an acronym for Vitamins, Essentials, Minerals, Mangosteen, and Aloe, which are the main ingredients of their products.

The company has undergone a series of ups and downs, but they’re still operating in more than 50 countries.

The specialties of the company lies on nutritional drinks, energy drinks, and dietary products that are sold through their sales representatives and consultants.

Aside from that, the company also has an elaborate marketing campaign as several celebrities such as Darren Hardy and the famous Dr. Oz endorses their products.

Their mission is to help improve the wellbeing of people by improving their health and giving them an opportunity to earn money.

Here is a 6-minute video that’ll help you understand what Vemma really is…

Lawsuits

Vemma has been reported by a number of members and users to be a pyramid scheme, which is why they have been filed with a pyramid scheme lawsuit by the FTC.

Good thing that the company immediately solved the issue and decided to pay a $238 million settlement.

Aside from the multi-million dollar penalty settlement, their MLM business model was also limited in its scale and is currently under the heavy supervision of the FTC.

Despite that, the company is still operating under a more low-key MLM business model.

Is Vemma a pyramid scheme?

No, Vemma is not a pyramid scheme as their members can make money by becoming agents and selling their health and fitness products.

They don’t even have to recruit people to earn. But is that really the case? Well, we’re going to dig deeper into that later.

And for now, let’s ask if… Is Vemma a pyramid scheme in disguise?

What is a pyramid scheme?

Companies promising members monetary payment whenever they recruit people. This is the priority instead of selling actual products and services.

Most countries have banned these as it’s impossible for all members to earn money in an organization that is only paying for recruitment.

Check this Wikipedia diagram to see why…

Pyramid-scheme-min

The members who make lots of money are those who do a ton of recruitment and do their best to entice as many people as they can to join this alleged “business opportunity.”

But if you were to closely check the diagram, you can see that not everyone can make money in a system that only pays for recruitment.

Here is a 5-minute video that’ll help you spot these “pyramid schemes in disguise.”

Success is rare with Vemma

It is hard to be successful in an MLM company such as Vemma. Take note that 86.81% of Vemma members lose money.

And did you know that around 72.5% and 99.9% of MLM agents are losing money?

92.3 Percent of Members Lose Money in MLMs

This happens as MLMs have this annoying feature called “sales quota” where members will only be recognized as active members and can receive commissions if they reach the sales quota and sell a specific number of products monthly.

If they can’t sell, then they’ll buy the products for themselves, resulting in hundreds and thousands of dollars lost before they can recruit a single member.

We are going to do a careful analysis on the Vemma income disclosure later in this review.

How does Vemma Work?

Vemma sells health and wellness products, most of which being energy and dietary beverages and supplements.

They also have their own affiliate program where members can join and become sales representatives. They can then sell the products and receive bonuses and commissions.

It looks like a win-win scenario at first glance… But I guess your perception on that will change once you learn that they save tons of cash on marketing because they just let their members do all the hard work in promoting and advertising!

To give you a better understanding of that, let’s learn more about…

Vemma products

If you are curious and really interested in joining this MLM despite the risks involved, then it’s crucial that you learn more about their products. This way, you’ll have a better idea on what you’re really doing.

The company’s main products are energy drinks and dietary supplements that are blended from a mix of vitamins, plant-based minerals and organic fruits.

Their main products are:

Some of the most popular ones are:

What’s also funny to think is that all of them claim to be special and that they feature the same products even if they’re just selling the same stuff that they’ve rebranded!

If that is what’s happening here, then what makes Vemma different?

Can you make money with Vemma?

You’re going to have a hard time earning bucks from Vemma. There are a few people who earn some, but it’s just slightly above minimum wage.

They are also extroverted people who invite as many people as they can to be their downline.

Even the income disclosure shows that there’s only very few who make commissions from Vemma.

How to make money with Vemma

There are 2 ways you can earn from Vemma:

  • Sell their products
  • Recruit members

The company has gone through serious lawsuits which is why they’re currently lying low with their MLM program.

Nonetheless, it’s still continuing, but in a limited way… Before dwelling more on their compensation plan, let’s learn if…

How much does it cost to join Vemma?

There are 2 ways you can join Vemma.

You either choose their Silver membership which costs $499.95 or their Gold membership which costs $999.95.

The latter option features more initial products than the former, which according to the company, gives you more chances of earning.

Vemma monthly cost

Vemma is just like any other MLM that has a monthly sales quota. In their case, members need to pay $68 monthly to stay active.

The costs for 1 year are…

  • $500 - $1,000
  • $68 x $12 = $816

Minimum costs for year 1 = $1,316 to $1,816

But that’s not all of it as you’re still going to add the other costs like training, marketing, and food and travel expenses.

Vemma compensation plan

All MLMs have confusing compensation plans. Based on my research, I discovered that this was a strategy for them to lure more members into the company. But no worries as I’ll simplify things up…

There are 3 main ways you can earn from Vemma:

  • Fast Start - Earn bonus $50, $100, $200 on your first sales, depending on your package.
  • Builder - Earn $10 to $50 bonus for every product sold within your downline.
  • Cycle Bonus - Earn 25% to 30% bonus on your total sales when you reach your first sales “cycle.”

Yes, I feel you… you’re confused! That’s normal with MLMs as they always use complicated terms and descriptions to make it seem like there are a lot of ways that their members can earn money.

When in fact, there’s just 2 things to do:

  • Sell
  • Recruit

I found a 3-minute compensation plan to help you understand their pay scheme a bit more…

You can also view their full compensation plan here.

Is Vemma a scam?

Vemma isn’t a scam. The company is selling legit products and also pays their members as what is initially stated.

However, what happens is that a lot of members are disappointed upon knowing that they lose more money instead of making money because of the sales quota.

This is why thousands of members dismiss the company as a scam.

The remaining sections of this review will reveal the hidden truths about this company so you can decide whether it’s worth the try or not…

Just to be fully transparent with you, I am not a distributor myself and I do not endorse it in any way.

I have researched the website, testimonials and information on the Internet to get to the bottom of what this program genuinely does. This is because I have been burnt from programs just like this in the past and I want to prevent others from making the same mistakes. What I like about Vemma

Key terms

Pyramid Scheme
recruits members via a promise for payment from recruiting others into the company rather than providing a product
Affiliate Marketing
Connecting a customer to a product they are looking for and receiving a commission for doing so
Red Flag
A warning sign

#1 Proven history

Note that only 30% of MLM companies go beyond the 10-year mark. In this case, Vemma has been operating since 2004, so that’s a full 16 years of continuous operations.

They might have a few beefs with the law, but everything is already settled. With this, it’s safe to say that Vemma isn’t a scam and won’t be closed by the FTC anytime soon.

#2 Positive product reviews

I’ve done an intensive research on the net, and I’m surprised to say that Vemma’s products do have a lot of positive reviews.

Vemma MLM Review: Pros

Although there were a few negative ones, but the number of positive reviews far outnumber the complaints.

## What I don't like about Vemma

#1 Expensive subscription

One of the first things I look at when reviewing an MLM is the subscription fee.

And frankly speaking, I’m disappointed with what Vemma has in store. Paying a hefty $500 or $1,000 for subscription depending on your chosen package is just too much.

There’s surely something fishy here.

#2 Expensive products

And it’s not only the subscription fee but the products as well that are expensive!

I checked their rivals’ prices and I’m surprised to see the huge price difference…

Vemma MLM Review: Cons

As you can see, the other brands offer the same benefits as the products Vemma is selling, but are way cheaper and are also effective based on some reviews.

#3 Is Vemma a pyramid scheme in disguise?

The fact that you must spend $68 a month just to be an active member means that there’s only one way you can avoid that, and that is by recruiting someone to become your downline.

MLM pyramid scheme

If you do, then you pass the burden to them… It does work but it is in no way ethical.

#4 Hidden monthly expenses

You need to sell $68 worth of products every single month just to stay active.

In other words, you have to maintain 68 PV monthly to become an active member. If you can’t, then you can buy them yourself, which also means that you have to spend instead of earn!

#5 Lawsuits

Vemma has received a number of complaints before, which led to them getting a lawsuit for an alleged pyramid scheme operation.

Vemma MLM Review: Cons 2

Nonetheless, they’ve already settled it by paying a massive $238 million settlement.

Yes, it might be settled, but that still means their history is tainted and that there’s a chance that can happen again knowing that it’s very clear Vemma is a pyramid scheme in disguise.

#6 Only 1 in 313 members over $31k a year

Check out the Vemma income disclosure and you’ll see that 74.43% of members earn just $938 annually.

Vemma MLM Review: Cons 3

Meanwhile, 91.2% of them are earning $1,597 annually. They also average an expense of $1,179 every year.

In summary, this shows that only 1 in every 313 members are earning more than $31,000 a year.

#7 Downward trend

I checked Google Trends and I see that Vemma’s popularity wanes. In fact, I compared it to Farmasi and saw a huge gap in terms of number of searches.

Vemma MLM Review: Cons 4

This means that you are going to have a hard time selling Vemma products especially that not many people are interested in it…

## My opinion - Vemma

Vemma sells legit and effective products. But what can I say about the business opportunity presented here?…

The fact that you need to focus on recruiting members to earn a good sum of money and to avoid spending more than what you earn is a clear sign that you’re going to have some trouble treating this as a work from home opportunity.

There are a lot of other ways to make good money in a reputable and stable working environment without stressing yourself that much…
