What is Mannatech?

Mannatech is a Multi-Level-Marketing company selling personal care products and dietary and slimming products.

Mannatech is a Texas-based health product and research company. They develop and offer a range of health supplements, including weight loss and fitness items. Additionally, the brand provides a skincare line. Ambrotose is one of the most well-known Mannatech products.

Ambrotose is derived from an assortment of plant extracts.

OsoLean, TruPURE, and TruSHAPE are the company's weight loss and exercise products. Let's examine if, according to study, the primary elements in these formulas have an effect on weight. Whey protein concentrate, xylitol, and salacia chinensis extract are the primary constituents.

  • Physiology & Behavior, protein is the most satiating macronutrient, with whey protein regarded to be especially satiating.

  • Nutrients – "We discovered no human studies on the effect of xylitol on weight, however there is no evidence of advantages in mice studies."

  • Compounds in Underutilized Fruits and Nuts – "Studies indicate that extracts of Salacia chinensis regulate various enzymes in carbohydrate and lipid metabolism, including -glucosidase, aldose reductase, and pancreatic lipase."

In 1993, the Mannatech MLM company was founded as Emprise International. THE FOUNDING MEMBERS WERE William C. Fioretti, Charles E. Fioretti, Samuel L. Caster, Gary L. Watson, and Patrick D. Cobb. Emprise began as a pharmaceutical company before expanding into the nutritional products market.

William Fioretti and Samuel Caster entered the nutrition market when a new federal law authorized the use of dietary supplements to improve health and prevent disease. They subsequently began selling their health goods after employing a number of scientists from various pharmaceutical companies.

The first product sold, produced from Manapol, a stabilized Aloe Vera product, had tremendous health and healing properties.

The company says that their main goal is to promote healthy products to fight global malnutrition.

It was founded by Samuel Caster in Nov. 1993 in Coppell, Texas. Aside from their products, they also have an affiliate program where anyone can become a distributor of their products and sell them at discounted price.

Aside from that, members can also earn from bonuses gained from recruiting more members to the company.

Here's a 9-minute video showcasing Mannatech...

Who is Samuel Caster ?

Samuel Caster is the founder of Mannatech. He is an American businessman who has founded a number of other companies such as Eagle Shield and Electracat.

However, Caster received a lawsuit from Greg Abbott due to the alleged illegal marketing scheme operation of Mannatech. Caster even paid $1 million to settle the lawsuit.

Is Mannatech a pyramid scheme?

No, Mannatech is not a pyramid scheme.

The company’s members can make money by selling their nutritional and dietary supplements without having to recruit.

But a better question to this is… Is Mannatech a pyramid scheme in disguise?

What is a pyramid scheme?

A company promising its members monetary payment for recruiting people into the company rather than selling legit products and services.

Most countries consider this illegal because not everyone can earn inside a company that pays its members to recruit.

Check out this Wikipedia diagram below...

The members who only make money are extroverted people who work like a full-time sales manager promoting and selling the products to whoever they meet.

Based on the diagram above, it’s impossible for all members to make money inside a system like this because you’d eventually run out of people to recruit.

I laid out a 5-minute video explaining how you can spot these “pyramid schemes in disguise”...

Success is rare with Mannatech

The fact is… it’s very hard to be successful in any MLM company.

Note that between 72.5% and 99.9% of MLM members lose money?

It’s because MLMs have a sales quota which means that members can only stay active and earn money if they manage to sell a certain amount of products monthly.

If not, they won’t stay active. This leads to members buying their supposedly for sale products all to themselves.

They just spend hundreds, if not thousands of dollars from their own pocket before they can recruit a single person.

We’ll be digging deeper into their Mannatech income disclosure later in this Mannatech review...

Hey, I'm Mike.

I created a passive income online within a year. I had no marketing skills or online experience when I started.

How does Mannatech Work?

Mannatech is a health and wellness MLM company selling nutritional and dietary supplements.

They also offer normal people an opportunity to work from home and sell products to receive commissions.

Sure, it sounds like a win-win...

But the catch is that Mannatech saves millions of dollars from ditching their entire marketing campaigns because they instead just let their members do all the promotion and advertising.

Before we see if that really is the case, it’s best if we find out more about...

Mannatech products

It’s important to know the actual products of the company before joining.

Frankly speaking, if you don’t use the products yourself or don’t understand them, then there would be no sense in talking about them because you’re going to sell loads of them!

The company features 5 categories for their products. These are:

  • Integrative Health - Nutritional supplements aimed at improving your overall health, both physically and mentally.
  • Targeted Health - Nutritional supplements aimed at improving bone, muscle, and heart function. The products here also aid in digestion.
  • Weight + Fitness - Nutritional supplements, shakes, and sports drinks aimed at helping you burn fats and cleanse your body from toxins to achieve optimal shape.
  • Skincare - Skincare products that include moisturizers, cleansers, and creams, which helps get rid of dark spots, wrinkles, pimples, and blemishes.
  • Home Living - Essential oils products that help improve body function and slow down the signs of aging.

Catalyst Multivitamin ($49.99) - Made up of natural plant-based nutrients that strengthen the immune system and improves kidney, liver, and nervous system functions.

Uth Facial Cleanser (32.99) - Washes away facial impurities such as makeup and dirt. Slows down the production of dead skin cells and gets rid of clogged pores.

Empact ($74.99) - Gives you an energy boost to keep up with strenuous daily workout and exercises. Also helps speed up recovery.

Know that there’s nothing special about these as there are thousands of other brands which are offering basically the same range of products.

What’s more is that there are hundreds of MLM companies that are selling the same things, only in different names!

These are:

All of them claim to have a special reason why they stand out. But in reality, they are just offering the same stuff.

So, what makes Mannatech special?

TruHealth Maintenance - flagship product

$179.99

Provides a holistic slimming and body strengthening program. This includes 2 TruPlenish shakes, TruShape capsules, and TruPure Slimsticks.

Here's a 4-minute video about one of their products...

Can you make money with Mannatech?

It is very hard to make money from Mannatech.

There might be a few who make slightly higher than minimum wage. But they work like full-time sales managers.

Their income report even shows that just a very few people make good money from Mannatech, and those are in the top ranks.

How to make money with Mannatech

There are 2 ways you can make money from Mannatech.

  • Sell products and earn commissions
  • Recruit people and earn bonuses

Before diving into their compensation plan, let’s learn...

How much does it cost to join Mannatech?

You have to pay $49.99 for the registration fee. This is good for one year and is called as the Associate Membership subscription. However, there’s no product included in this package, so you need to spend more.

Here’s how much their different start packs cost:

  • Basic Pack - $99 to $169
  • All-star Pack - $499
  • Premium All-star Pack - $999

So, how can you get back your expenses?

Mannatech compensation plan

All MLMs make their compensation plans confusing. Mannatech is no different! No worries, though, as I’ll try my best to keep things simple…

There are 5 ways you can get paid from Mannatech.

PPV Bonus

Get 5% to 15% bonus depending on your PPVS.

This ranges from 150 PPV to 2000 PPV.

AQ Personal and Team Bonus

Get a $75 bonus from your personal sales. Or get $300 bonus monthly from your downline team sales.

First Order Bonus

Get a 15% bonus from every new member that you recruit.

Mentor Bonus

Get $75 to $350 every time your downlines get promoted.

The value depends on the rank they are promoted to.

Infinity Bonus

Get 4% to 8% of the total sales of the company.

No worries if you’re confused with all that. MLMs use weird acronyms and fancy terms so that it’ll seem there’s loads of ways you can make money.

When in reality, there are only 2 things to do:

  • Sell Mannatech products
  • Recruit members to Mannatech

Here is a 10-minute video about their compensation plan...

That leads us to think if...

Is Mannatech a scam?

Nope, Mannatech isn’t a scam. The MLM sells legit products and pays members exactly as they say.

But the thing is… many members are annoyed when they realize that they signed up for a misleading business opportunity because they lose more money instead of earning.

This is the reason why many people call this a scam.

The remainder of this review will help you see the real pros and cons of this company so you can make an informed decision if it’s for your or not...

Just to be fully transparent with you, I am not a distributor myself and I do not endorse it in any way.

I have researched the website, testimonials and information on the Internet to get to the bottom of what this program genuinely does. This is because I have been burnt from programs just like this in the past and I want to prevent others from making the same mistakes. Common positive reviews

Here are the common positive reviews about its job opportunity that we have found in Indeed...

  • "I enjoyed working at Mannatech. We had a great group of creatives at the time I worked there and we still keep in touch."
Management was positive and encouraging. Great benefits.
  • "Loved working at Mannatech. The people are top notch and the projects are fun and exciting. They have one of the best products on the market. Good proccesses in place."

Common negative reviews

And here are the common negative reviews you should know...

  • "Mannatech has been plagued with falling sales for several years. This continuing decline effects everything. No money for projects but the project is still expected to be done. No money for raises. Fairly small company so your chances for promotion are not very high. No matter how good you are there's no spot to move up to."
  • "HR was wonderful but culture was not followed by upper manager across the board. I certainly would not recomend working for this company unless you were desperate."

What I like about Mannatech

Key Terms:

  • Pyramid Scheme – recruits members via a promise for payment from referring others to the service rather than providing a product
  • Affiliate Marketing- Connecting a customer to a product they are looking for and receiving a commission for doing so
  • Red Flag - A warning sign

Here are some of the best things that I like about Mannatech...

#1 Proven history

Only 30% of MLM companies survive the first 10 years. Good thing Mannatech is one of them as they’ve been around since 1993.

This means that it’s safe to say that they won’t disappear tomorrow like the case with many MLMs.

It’s also a great sign that Mannatech isn’t a scam because the FTC didn’t shut it down.

#2 Positive product reviews

Another nice thing I found about Mannatech is that their products are indeed competitive because they’re effective.

Here are a number of positive reviews I found...

If that's the case, then what's the problem with Mannatech? Well...

What I don't like about Mannatech

And here are some of the redflags concerning Mannatech...

#1 Expensive products

If MLMs have overpriced products, that’s a huge red flag that the company might be a “pyramid scheme in disguise.”

It’s because the company focuses more in recruiting instead of selling nice and affordable products.

Remember having to pay $74 to $180 just to get those nutritional and dietary supplements?

Well, check out these alternative health and wellness products I found in Amazon. They’ve got good reviews and are made by reputable brands...

Of course, you'd prefer to get those instead of the overpriced Mannatech stuff...

#2 Hidden monthly expenses

Distributors must sell 100 PV every single month to stay active. It doesn’t make sense…

Why would you need to sell that certain number of products?

Sounds fishy to me...

If you can’t sell 100 PPV monthly which is around $100 to $200 worth of products every single month, then you need to buy it yourself.

The fact is, the main customer base of Mannatech is their distributors who constantly buy their stuff hoping that they’ll be their own boss soon.

#3 Is Mannatech a pyramid scheme in disguise?

If you need to spend around $100 to $200 monthly just to stay active, then the only way you can avoid that is by recruiting people under you…

You’ll then have to motivate them to sell that amount of products so that they don’t have to pay for it. That just isn’t right...

#4 Saturated market

There are thousands of health and wellness MLMs out there.

In fact, these are the most common MLM companies. It would just be hard to sell something if there are already a lot of competitors out there.

#5 Downward trend

The final deal breaker for me is that I found on Google Trends.

The number of people searching for Mannatech is very volatile. This means that it just doesn’t get a constant and stable number of searches for it to be called sellable.

It’s far easier to sell something which people are searching for.

Unfortunately, Mannatech isn’t one of those.

Ready to make passive income online?

I've created a growing passive income online with no previous marketing skills or online experience...

I've made a special video for you to explain exactly how I did this.

My opinion - Mannatech

No doubt that Mannatech sells interesting and effective health and wellness products compared to other MLMs.

But what about their business opportunity?...

The only legit way you can make money is by recruiting lots of people into the company and encouraging them to sell just to stay active.

The fact is… most, if not all of these people are just going to lose money from Mannatech.

In no instance does that sound like an ethical business model to me...

How I make passive income online

MLMs are not scams or illegal. However, I'm not a fan of them because of the restrictions to the expensive products you have to promote.

Once I learnt about affiliate marketing, I realised it's a far superior business model because:

  • You can promote anything you want and truly own the business
  • You never need to sell to friends and family
  • It's completely free to start

In 2018 I had no idea what affiliate marketing was.

But I went from a full time PE teacher to making a passive income online within one year...
