The Beginner’s Guide to SEO has been strategically divided into 7 modules. Every module covers a couple of lessons about SEO that you can use to improve your knowledge and skills.
If you already have basic knowledge of SEO, you might want to skip some modules and lessons in this course. This is particularly true if you’re only looking for the technical aspect.
Module 1: SEO 101
If you’ve got a solid understanding of SEO and why it is essential, you can skip to the next module. However, it is still recommended that you skim through this module, especially if you need a refresher.
On the other hand, if you have zero knowledge about SEO, this module will teach you foundational SEO knowledge. You’ll learn some of the basics of SEO that will help you move forward.
This module will help you become more data-driven in your SEO efforts. Instead of doing random things, this will help you become more organized.
Module 2: How Search Engines Work
After you understand the basics of SEO, the next module is about how search engines work.
As the name suggests, this module will teach you everything about search engines. This includes ranking, indexing, crawling, and much more.
Understanding search engines will help you know how you can show up your website on the Search Engine Results Page (SERPs).
Of course, you do not have to know all the ins and outs of the algorithm. However, this module will help you get an excellent baseline knowledge of how search engines rank, store, interpret, and find content.
Module 3: Keyword Research
After learning how to show up in SERPs, the next thing you need to learn is how to find the right keywords to target in the content of your website.
Aside from that you should also learn how to create content that will satisfy both search engines and users.
In this module, you will get methods and tools to help you understand keyword research. Furthermore, you will also learn strategies that will help you establish strong content and avoid keyword research issues.
Module 4: On-Page SEO
After understanding how users are searching for content, the next thing you need to learn is on-page SEO.
Keep in mind that this is the start of the technical part of the course. Thus, you might have a hard time understanding some of the phrases or words in this module.
On-page SEO is the practice of creating web pages that answer the questions of your users. In this module, you’ll learn everything about on-page SEO.
Module 5: Technical SEO
Because the technical structure of your website can have a huge influence on its performance, you also need to learn the principles of technical SEO.
If you’re a business owner, you might want to share this module with your team so that every party involved in the construction of your website is on the same page.
This is particularly true for your designers, content writers, and programmers.
Module 6: Link Building and Building Authority
Since you now have learned how to create content that users are looking for, that search engines can understand, and that answers the questions of consumers, you’re probably ready to start.
Well, that is not the case. Just because you’ve learned all the modules and lessons above does not mean your website is ready to rank.
To outrank your competitors, you need to build authority. This is what you’ll learn in this module.
Module 7: Measuring and Tracking SEO Success
Now that you know all the basics of SEO, the last thing you want to learn is how to measure and track your efforts. Of course, you don’t want to start a campaign and not know the results, right?

With the knowledge gained, I’ve not only improved my site but will be able to provide a better service to my clients.”
Common negative Beginner's Guide to SEO reviews
- Introduces a lot of SEO terms in the beginning.
- It only offers a general overview
- Too basic.
And here are the best negative reviews I seen:
- "I don’t have any idea what SEO means and how it works. Because of this, I was extremely eager to know more about this topic the 1st chapter. Unfortunately, the first chapter introduces a lot about SEO terms and words that I do not understand. These words should be defined at the beginning of the course.”
- "It offers a general overview. However, the materials aren’t extremely refined and the course does not offer an excellent structured approach to the topic. Because of this, I didn’t proceed with the next modules because it would be better for me to look for other courses”
- "This course is simply too basic for me. Obviously, this course is called Beginner’s Guide to SEO. However, it doesn't even get to how to start working with it. I am a bit disappointed. Maybe they’ll update the course in the future.”

Beginner's Guide to SEO pros
Here are some of the best things that I discovered when reviewing The Beginner's Guide to SEO...
#1 Course is engaging
The way they wrote everything in the course helps readers be engaged. It’s extremely well-written. If you think you’ll get bored reading a lot of words, you’re wrong.
#2 User-friendly
Not all people are tech-savvy. If you’re one of these people, you might be scared to navigate their website. However, you shouldn’t worry because their site is user-friendly.
Navigation is pretty easy. When you’re done with one module, you’ll find a button at the end of the module that will lead you to the next module.
#3 All training focuses on white hat SEO
As much as possible, SEO professionals recommend avoiding Gray-Hat and Black-Hat SEO. Unfortunately, a couple of SEO courses still recommend these tactics even though they’re extremely risky.
Fortunately, that isn’t the case with the Beginner’s Guide to SEO. This course will only teach you White-Hat SEO strategies.
Beginner's Guide to SEO cons
And here are some of the things I find awkward in The Beginner's Guide to SEO. So take note of these...
#1 It is too basic
This might appear obvious because the title of the course is Beginner’s Guide to SEO. However, it’s simply too basic. You can typically find all of the lessons in this course anywhere, from Google to YouTube.
#2 They market Moz products too much
While reading the lessons in this course, you’ll find that they typically insert their products in the lessons.
Because of this, you might think that you need Moz tools to proceed. However, that isn’t the case.
#3 You need Moz Pro if you want to dive deeper
After finishing the entire course, what should you do next? You probably want to improve your knowledge and skills, right?
Well, if you want that to happen, you’ll need a Moz Pro account to get access to their advanced courses. This means that you’ll need to pay a subscription-based fee.
My opinion - Beginner's Guide to SEO
So, is the Beginner’s Guide to SEO by Moz a good course? In my opinion, it’s an excellent course. This is particularly true if you’re a beginner.
It’s a great resource if you want to learn all the basics and fundamentals of SEO. It will also teach you things to avoid to make sure you won’t harm your website’s SEO.
Unfortunately, I do not recommend this course if you already have a bit of knowledge of SEO. You might be better off looking for other courses online.
This course is only valuable if you have zero knowledge about SEO.
How I make passive income online
In 2018 I had no idea what affiliate marketing was.
Once I learnt about it, it just seemed like a great business model that can grow over time using the power of the internet.
So I tried to figure it out by myself... that got me nowhere fast.
Then I fell for some terrible online scams.
But eventually, I found Wealthy Affiliate. It teaches long-term proven strategies to build an online business with all the tools & support needed.
And this happened...
Once you learn the process of getting thousands of people to find your website every month (for free) there really is not limit to what you can achieve online.
I've reviewed hundreds of courses or programs that claim to help people make money online. And I've spoken to dozens of 6-7 figure online entrepreneurs on my podcast.
This is by far the best place I've seen to help beginners get set up on the right foot. You can read my full Wealthy Affiliate review here (including the pros and cons!)
Or you can watch an insiders video I made that explains exactly how it works here.
