What is Java Momma?

Java Momma is a Multi-Level-Marketing company that was founded back in 2017.

They sell various coffee and tea products that come in different shapes and sizes. With most of them being already packed in ready-to-drink sachets that mixes with water.

Their founders are Brian and Melissa Shoop, both of which are well-versed in the profession and art of coffee and tea making. They also say that the main goal of their company is to foster customer relationships while indulging in healthy coffee and tea products.

Let's then know...

Is Java Momma a pyramid scheme?

No, Java Momma is not a pyramid scheme.

The company has members that earn money by selling their coffee and tea products without the need to recruit people.

In simpler words, they can still earn if they don't recruit other members. That's basically how they dodge being called as a pyramid scheme!

But I think a better question to this is…

is Java Momma a pyramid scheme in disguise?

What is a pyramid scheme?

A pyramid scheme is a company that pays members who recruit people.

The members are compensated for recruitment instead of serving the company through sales.

Countries around the globe have already banned companies that follow this business system because all their members can't earn money from a company that only pays to recruit.

Wikipedia did a good job in explaining pyramid schemes from this diagram below...

Members who earn the most money just recruit as many people as they can. They are also selling the idea of a “business opportunity” even if they already know that they're losing money sooner or later.

You can also see in the diagram above that it is impossible for all members to earn in the long run.

Why?

Because they'll soon run out of people to recruit.

You can learn more on how you can spot these pyramid schemes in disguise in this 5-minute video...

But why does this happen...

Success is rare with Java Momma

The fact is... It is hard to see success and earn good money from any MLM.

A statistical report even states that between 72.5% and 99.9% of MLM members lose money.

This happens because MLMs have sales quotas where members can only stay active and receive commissions and incentives if they can sell a certain number of products monthly.

92.3 Percent of Members Lose Money in MLMs

If they can't, then they have no other choice but to just get money from their own pockets. They could just then hope to recruit someone soon to make up for the losses.

How does Java Momma Work?

Java Momma is an MLM that sells coffee and tea products. They brand their products as healthy, delicious, and classy.

Aside from that, they also offer average joes an opportunity to work from home.

Home?

By simply becoming a member. They can then sell the products and hope to receive bonuses and commissions.

At first glance, you can say for sure that it’s a win-win situation.

But the thing is that Java Momma saves loads of money because they just let their members do all the promotion and marketing instead of themselves?

This leads us to find out more about...

Java Momma products

It's best that you try out the products sold by Java Momma yourself, so you can learn more about their products.

This gives you an easier time adapting with the company. But that’s if you manage to become a part of them!

But note that there are many other companies out there that sell very similar products. Most of the time, they're even just rebranded stuff!

Here are some of the most popular MLM companies selling coffee and tea products like Java Momma:

All these companies say they are special and that they stand out from the others because they sell a unique product.

When in reality, what is happening is that they are just offering the same business opportunity and prodocts to customers.

So, what makes Java Momma special?

Let's now move on and know if...

Can you make money with Java Momma?

Yes, of course, you can earn some bucks.

But unfortunately, it is hard to do so.

There might be a few members who earn decent commissions, but they just earn amounts that are close to minimum wage, sometimes even lower...

You surely don't want that, right?

There is even no official income disclosure to prove that their members are actually earning.

How to make money with Java Momma

The only way you can make money from Java Momma is by:

  • Selling their coffee and tea products
  • Recruiting members into the company

Also, remember that you can only earn from your downline members' sales and not from directly recruiting them.

This is how they dodge FTC's shut down notices and avoid being called as a pyramid scheme. Because the recruitment doesn't happen directly.

Well, that’s why they're called as a pyramid scheme in disguise...

How much does it cost to join Java Momma?

There are 3 subscription options if you want to join Java Momma.

These are:

  • Build Your Own Adventure ($20) - Includes 4 coffee bags and a replicated website
  • The Tea Momma ($35) - Includes tea bags, 1 barista workbook, and a replicated website.

This means that you need to prepare for these costs annually:

  • $20 to $65
  • $50 x 12

Minimum costs for year 1 = $620 to $665

But that's not all of it!

You also need to add up the other costs like training, marketing, and the food and travel allowance...

Java Momma compensation plan

MLM companies always have a confusing compensation plans..

They do this so that potential members will think that there are many ways they can earn money from the company. When the fact is, there's just a few!

Well, that's what's happening with Java Momma. But no need to worry, though, as I will simplify this for you...

Java Momma offers 2 main ways for members to earn money. These are via:

  • Direct Sales - Get a 30% commission every time you sell a cofee or tea product
  • Recruitment Bonus - Get a 20% to 30% bonus every time you recruit someone into the company. The incentive depends on your rank level.

As you can see, there are just 2 things you can do:

  • Sell products
  • Recruit members

Is Java Momma a scam?

No. Java Momma is not a scam. Java Momma sells real and legit coffee products. They also pay their members correctly.

But the thing is, members are disappointed to learn that they are losing more money instead of making the longer they stay with the company. This is the reason why many decided to call the company a scam.

The next section of this review will dig deeper into this so you can decide for yourself if this is a good business opportunity or not...

Just to be fully transparent with you, I am not a distributor myself and I do not endorse it in any way.

I have researched the website, testimonials and information on the Internet to get to the bottom of what this program genuinely does. This is because I have been burnt from programs just like this in the past and I want to prevent others from making the same mistakes. What I like about Java Momma

Key Terms:

  • Pyramid Scheme – recruits members via a promise for payment from recruiting others into the company rather than providing a product
  • Affiliate Marketing- Connecting a customer to a product they are looking for and receiving a commission for doing so
  • Red Flag - A warning sign

#1 Established reputation

Most MLMs last for just a few years, specifically just around 2 to 3 years.

But Java Momma is different because they’ve been around since 2017. This means that they are operational for more than 4 years.

This shows that the company doesn’t have any issues with the authorities or any kind of lawsuit.

It's a good sign if you want to stay with them in the long run.

#2 Positive product reviews

Another nice thing about Java Momma is that they've got positive reviews from customers...

Is Java Momma a Scam: Pros

This shows that the coffee and tea products that Java Momma sells are all delicious and of top-notch quality.

What I don't like about Java Momma

#1 Expensive products

One of the biggest downsides to Java Momma is that they sell expensive products.

Specifically speaking, coffee...

Is Javita a Scam: Cons

Let's just leave their tea products out of the equation because they're (fortunately) affordable.

But coffee doesn't have to be expensive, right?

#2 Saturated niche

The coffee niche is already very satured in the MLM industry.

60% or even 70% of all MLMs sell coffee, because they think it's in-demand. Well, it is! But there's just no point in selling something that is already being sold by many other people.

There are already thousands of companies selling coffee and tea products out there.

This makes it more difficult for you to sell the products...

#3 Hidden monthly expenses

You need to sell at least 50 PV monthly to stay active and earn commissions.

PV means personal volume. This is the amount of products you must sell monthly so you can receive bonuses and commissions.

If you cannot sell this volume, then you have no choice but to...

Buy the products yourself just to stay active and receive commissions!

#4 Is Java Momma a pyramid scheme in disguise?

The only way you can avoid spending $50 or more monthly just to keep up with the minimum quota is by means of aggressive recruitment.

Here is a diagram that clearly shows what happens...

MLM pyramid scheme

It's all about transferring the pressure and hassle to your downline members instead of you working for it because they’re the ones who must maintain the quota.

That surely isn’t an ethical business system...

#5 Downward trend

I checked Google Trends and here is what I saw...

Is Java Momma a Scam: Cons 2

As you can see, Java Momma is hardly getting any searches in Google.

I even compared this with another notable MLM company called Farmasi, and the differences between the two is very clear.

This shows that you are going to have a hard time selling Java Momma products because there are less people interested in it...

My opinion - Java Momma

Java Momma sells legit and quality products. But they're just overpriced and the amount of effort and time you need to exert is not worth it knowing that there is no guarantee of commissions.

So, here’s what I think about their business opportunity...

The only way to make money is by recruitment and getting as many people as you can. It's a clear sign that there’s something fishy going on here.

What’s more is that you already know that majority of the members are just going to end up losing money.

Java Momma is all about selling the dream of becoming rich by merely selling.

When the fact is just far from reality.

There are more better ways to make good money from a proper and legit business...

How I make passive income online

MLMs are not scams or illegal. However, I'm not a fan of them because of the restrictions to the expensive products you have to promote.

Once I learnt about affiliate marketing, I realised it's a far superior business model because:

  • You can promote anything you want and truly own the business
  • You never need to sell to friends and family
  • It's completely free to start

In 2018 I had no idea what affiliate marketing was.

But I went from a full time PE teacher to making a passive income online within one year...
